Evan Buttar started playing the cello at an early age in Vancouver, British Columbia. His studies began at the Vancouver Academy of Music, and he is a student of Paul Marleyn at the University of Ottawa finishing his fourth year of undergraduate studies. Evan has played in a large variety of orchestras and chamber ensembles, with repertoire ranging from the early Baroque to the 21st-century. His interest in the baroque cello started a few years ago, and this instrument and style has become his passion and direction since. He has played in masterclasses for many renowned cellists, including Steven Isserlis, Ronald Leonard, Christina Mahler, Hans Jørgen Jensen, Kenneth Slowik, Phoebe Carrai, and Jaap ter Linden.
